The Vatican has just excommunicated seven women who claim to be priests and refuse to repent, saying Monday that the group had "wounded" the Roman Catholic Church.
Excommunicate. That means they "go to hell".
And what has "the Vatican" done about all the pervert male pedophile priests that have repeatedly raped and sexually molested trusting children?
Nothing.
They "go to another parish".
1st child (observing some stupidity on the part of 2nd child): "It takes a dope to kill a pope!"
2nd child (typical response): "Shut up!"
But as a child, my invented riposte: "But it takes a real dope to kill two popes!"

It's sad, really. It gives religion as a whole a really bad name. But, life is like that, you know? One corrupted thing gives all other things that have some similiar attributes as that a bad name. That's how racism, sexism, etc. has developed. Now we're going to get into religionism. *sigh* Yes, it's very sad.
I'm am neither catholic nor extremely religious.. I have my own private, quiet faith.. but I think the Pope is supposed to have a divine connection to God or something like that.. Supposedly his actions are all pre-approved by the big G himself. Sad thing is.. some people really believe that.. Why don't they do something about the rapist pervs.. ?? Because that would mean that the church made an error.. which would mean something was really fucked up in the divine telephone lines when those priests were ordained. And why were just men apostles? Perhaps they never thought that... at that time, in view of extreme chauvinism, and prejudice.. women were just not respected enough... nor able to travel to spread the "word" sufficiently.... And Joan of Arc.. she was just a crazy chica I guess... There refusal to allow women priests is a sad thing.. it shows lack of respect , predjudice.. and the Vatican's outdated.. and yes.. ignorant views. Perhaps it's best these women were excommunicated.. they will have more freedom to spread the word as they see it.. and perhaps be able to help a few that the orthodox church wouldn't be able to reach. Props for them and their courage & faith to do what they feel is right.

What to say... ah, well, I could say an awful lot about this entire subject. I have done a lot of research about women's history and in reality, after Christ died and before Catholicism began, women prothelitized the Christian faith more than men. They converted many. One of them being a Roman emperor. But like most religions, once the religion became "settled", the women were relegated to smaller role within the church, if at all. In the early church, priests did marry. But you can blame some misongynist popes in the dark to middle ages for the beginning of this whole mess.
I could go on and on, but I am not going to.
